BRIDGE PARTICIPANTS

You may choose to attend the Full Comprehensive programme as a ‘Bridge’ participant as opposed to a full-time apprentice. What does this mean? You will attend all the weekends and apprentice meetings but you are not required to take the full 600-hour apprenticeship as it is assumed you are already a practiced teacher and that you would like to improve your teaching skills or work more closely with the Classical Method.

Training Program:
Attend all the weekends:
• Intro to Mat Weekend
• Intro to studio weekend 1
• Progression studio weekends 2,3,4
• Progression + weekend 5
• Attend Apprentice Meetings
•
Take the final test out for 600 hours

If you choose and would like to take some hours and do the other testouts there is an additional 105€ fee per testout. This is strongly advised if you are not already a classical teacher. This can be discussed further an on an individual basis when the programme has begun.

Pre-requisites:
Please enquire about the ‘Bridge’ into the programme if you are already comfortable with a studio-teaching scenario. This is to be agreed on a case-by-case basis.

Graduation & Test Out:
Students must successfully complete all pre requisite requirements, written exam and a test out.

COURSE OVERVIEW & PRE-REQUISITES

The Full Comprehensive programme is as it says, comprehensive. You are taken through the full studio repertoire. Learn to teach on all the apparatus Joseph Pilates developed over his lifetime. You will attend five comprehensive weekends. Be expected to attend 600 hours apprenticeship, written and practical evaluations throughout, along with attending 9 apprentice meetings where different topics are looked at in more depth.

The programme can take a participant anywhere between 6 to 12 months with 9 months being the average. It all depends on how you approach the programme, either on a more full time basis or on a part time basis.

Entrance Requirements

  1. Attend the Intro to Mat weekend
  2. Be familiar with a reformer workout to an Intermediate level/progression level. You will be asked to take yourself through the workout independently. To know your springs, transitions and order. (You are not expected to execute the exercises perfectly – this is a lifetime’s work!)

Pilates is not an intellectual exercise. It is a physical experience; you need to get comfortable with work in your body. Always remember however, that Pilates is not a performance but a practice, a discipline that develops over time. If you are considering the programmes you should feel comfortable to workout. It is therefore important you build a strong relationship with your teacher, and that you learn the names, orders, spring settings and transitions. The more familiar you are the more you will gain from the weekends.

I invite any of you to come and train and workout here whenever you can. Get comfortable in the studio.

Course Commitment & Hours breakdown

  1. Attend the 5 weekends – see course dates below
  2. 600 hours apprenticeship (including observation, self-practice, teaching,workouts)
  3. Testouts both written and practical at 100, 300, 400 and 600 hours
